Rooted in a lifelong love of nature and inspired by the great landscape painters of the Impressionist era, Richard's work explores the ever-changing beauty of the natural world. Through studies and finished paintings, he seeks to capture the light, atmosphere, and quiet moments that reveal nature's enduring rhythms. These paintings are held in private collections.

Recent Studio Work

These abstract works reflect Richard's fascination with the creative space where intuition, observation, and possibility intersect. Influenced by both nature and the legacy of Abstract Expressionism, the paintings are less concerned with depicting something than with creating engaging visual experiences that remain open to interpretation.

Legacy Works 1989-1996

This portfolio includes past work of large abstracts completed in Richard's studios in Arizona and Washington. These works reside in private collections and a few are displayed at Richard's alma mater, Linfield College.
